Saturday, Mar 22, 1999

Almost seventy years old, the bridge which crosses the Missouri River at Hermann has open sides, two lanes and no shoulders.  Driving over the narrow bridge is an experience which produces immediate  appreciation of modern bridges.

Founded in 1847, Stone Hill Winery carved  large cellars connected by passageways into the bedrock beneath the main building.
Ron and Anne Strang and Mary Brown pause before entering the dimly illuminated wine cellars.

A large pavilion shades picnic tables by the south bank of the Missouri River. Looking west, you have the view of the bridge pictured at the top of this page.

Beautifully maintained brick houses and gorgeous flowers and gardens abound in Hermann.
