Poster at Puyallup Fair

Poster
at the Western Washington Fair, September, 2002
Puyallup, Washington

Western Washington has a reputation as a center of  high technology and aerospace. But agriculture is also important. We did not appreciate how important agriculture was to the region until we went to the fair. Much of the exhibition space is devoted to farming. This poster shows that appreciation agricultural work starts at an early age. When you picture in your mind's eye the effort this child put into the poster, and how important the flock of sheep is to the child, you feel like smiling and saying to the youngster, "Well done."

Highway signs marking the exit to the fair read "WWF" which stands for Western Washington Fair. But people call it the Puyallup Fair, and going to the fair is called doing the Puyallup. Last fall 1,184,671 people did the Puyallup and we were two of them.
