Union Station
Saint Louis, Missouri

Designed by Theodore C. Link to be the largest and most elegant rail station in the United States, Union Station in Saint Louis, Missouri opened in 1894 and served the Terminal Railroad Association until 1978 when the last train pulled away from Union Station. The exterior design of the building was inspired by castles in France. Saved by Oppenheimer Properties from demolition, Union Station reopened in 1985 as a fine hotel, a glass-enclosed shopping area, and a restaurant center in downtown Saint Louis.
