Recycled Mine Cars

Butchart Gardens used to be a quarry producing limestone used to make cement. To beautify the worked-out quarry on the estate of Robert Pim Butchart and his wife Jenny, Mrs. Butchart transformed the quarry into a magnificent set of gardens. She even turned what would have been junk into clever uses, as the above flower filled mine cars demonstrate. Many visitors to the city of Victoria on Vancouver Island make the trip to the nearby Butchart Gardens and enjoy the beautiful sights.
