Marabou stork

Marabou stork

The Marabou stork eats insects, baby crocodiles, flamingos, small mammals, fish and carrion. Its strong beak cuts through the tough hide of dead mammals. The pink pouch hanging from the base of the beak probabably attracts a mate. This African animal is the largest of the storks, stands five feet tall, and has an eight and an half foot wing span. This photo was taken at the Indianapolis Zoo (http://www.indyzoo.com/facts/fact.asp?animal=marabou%20stork).
