Built in 1935, this graceful bridge spans Deception Pass, the channel between Whidbey Island and Fidalgo Island, both of which are in Puget Sound. Whidbey Island, forty miles long, is forty miles north of Seattle, and is one of the longest off shore islands in the United States. (Week of January 28, 2001)
