Petroglyphs in Hell's Canyon, Idaho

Petroglyphs in Hell's Canyon, Idaho

Mary took this photograph of petroglyphs along the Snake River as it flowed through Hell's Canyon in Idaho. The operator of the jet boat we rode upon stopped his craft near the shore and pointed out these prehistoric carvings made by Indians. I tried to find out about these images by surfing the internet, but found no specific information. However, about a thousand years ago there was a group of Indians, known as the Fremont Culture, in the Idaho area. This culture disappeared suddenly after A.D. 1250. A number of petroglyphs in Idaho are attributed to the Fremont Culture.
