October Lilacs

Several branches on the lilac bush by our house are in bloom presently. Leaves on these blooming branches are dead and brown while leaves on the other branches are still green. Never before had I noticed this bush carrying blossoms in the fall. Although there were some cool days, overall Saint Louis has had a mild fall so far. Perhaps this warmth caused part of the lilac bush to bloom out of season. Oct 8, 2000
