Westminster Abbey, London, England

In 1245 Henry III pulled down the former church at this site and replaced it with the present church. Parts were added or rebuilt intermittently, but the Early English Gothic design of Henry III predominates, so the church appears to have been built at one time. The western towers, pictured here, were completed about 1745. During World War II German bombing heavily damaged the church, but it was restored soon after the war.
