Gazing at this 1974 picture of a December scene in Harwinton, Connecticut, might cause you momentarily to feel the summer's heat a bit less. This is one of those photos that illustrates how much of good photography involves plain old luck. This is a beautiful Norman Rockwellesque setting, but what makes the photo special is the presence of the dog, Katrina, in the foreground. The dog happened upon the scene when the photographer was ready to take the picture, and the result is a much better photo than the house and snow alone would have been.
