Photographed at Northwest Trek, Eatonville, WA, May 20, 2000. This cougar relaxed on a branch of the tree for about a half hour before deciding to climb down. Once he had made up his mind to descend, though, the process didn't take him long. He moved quickly and backed his way down the tree with seemingly little effort. The scarred bark of the tree suggests that the cougar goes up and down frequently.
