NO. 3 Climax Engine; Painted in 1991 by Dan Sawatzky; 4.57m x 4.42m (15' x 14.6'); Alder Street, Chemainus, British Columbia. Lumber, especially the largest covered-in sawmill in North America, used to be the economy of Chemainus, a town forty miles north of the city of Victoria on the Canadian island of Vancouver. A change in logging laws threatened the livelihood of Chemainus's citizens who prevailed by using art to create new economic strength based on tourism. Thirty-three murals over cover exterior walls of buildings in Chemainus. Each mural, created by a professional artist, depicts an aspect of the town's history. You can find more information about the murals of Chemainus here: Chemainus Murals
